In South Australia, Adelaide Airport is considered to be the main and is also recognized as their fifth most active airport, which has served to an average of more than seven million passengers in the year end of 2012. In the year 1921, in Hendon, the aerodrome was first constructed to be the first airport in Adelaide. The facility was used to service mails to Sydney and Adelaide, and gradually, the need for aviation had grown which eventually started its construction and in 1954, flights were formally inaugurated.
